The Kudzu Wish came together in October 1998 with little more than some borrowed equipment and a dorm room to practice in. Made up of Devender Sellars (guitar, vocals), Eric Mann (guitar) Geordie Woods (drums), and Tim Lafollette (bass, vocals) the Greensboro, NC based quartet got off to a quick start with a self-released tape and a subsequent series of east coast shows. Over the next two years things fell off a bit as Geordie and Devender decided to rock out abroad, but in the fall of 2000 the Wish started up again and added the final piece of the puzzle in the form of vocalist, friend and tour-buddy Adam Thorn. The next year saw the band honing their newfound heavy style, first given to the masses on 2001's "Dogminutes" EP, and shortly thereafter on a split 7" with local cohorts And Sometimes I. Repeated tours of the southern US, a few jaunts in the northeast, plenty of hours in the studio and five college diplomas later, Kudzu Wish has finally settled into the rock life of Greensboro. They've shared the stage with acts including The Lapse, The Rapture, Sweep The Leg Johnny, White Octave, True North, Twelve Hour Turn, and of course their partners in crime, Disband, who they've teamed up with on their latest release. Combining the frenetic energy of their incorrigibly hyper frontman with jerky riffs, sudden changes, inventive background vocals, and even a sense of humor, the quintet has been blowing away local audiences and is now aiming the rock towards you. The five tracks they've contributed to their latest record are a varied bunch with the common trend of searing energy and imagination. With explosive revival style live performances that sway from seas of quiet delay to full band freakouts, Kudzu Wish have finally found their groove and it's pretty hard not to get caught up in it.
